Dragon RolePlay

Skye backed away nearly stumbling off from her roost from atop of her mother's head. Spreading her small wings she shielded herself from the unknown serpent like dragon and gazed at her in curiosity.
When she heard her mother would be sleeping for a long time she glanced down and folded her ears against her head. Her rare sapphire blue eyes focused back onto the serpent dragon as she asked, "Whe- when will she wake? She needs to eat, so when will she wake?"
The distant scuffle of a bush caused her to leap forward in surprise, terribly nervous before waddling over by the serpent dragon's side and curling by her.

"Whe- when will she wake? She needs to eat, so when will she wake?"

The hatchling still seemed a bit nervous about leaving its mother. A shuffle in a nearby bush brought the chick over to Silla though and she shifted her body to make sure noone could see the newborn.

Once Silla was sure the hatchling was safe, she looked down at the chick. "She...your..." Silla sighed, seeing no other way to avoid the situation. "Your mother's injuries were too severe, chick..."

She didn't wait for the young dragon to respond as she began digging a tunnel, clasping the chick in her first pair of legs while the second pair dug furiously. She wouldn't be able to protect the hatchling from any of the nocturnal dragons if they were caught. Being in the underground would be safer, at least until it was day again.

She clutched the hatchling securely but gentle enough not to hurt her. She would have to teach the hatchling to trust her.

Skye gazed at her in confusion before being swept up from her feet by the serpent dragon. She noticed this dragon was different from her, she had no wings but had many legs.
Skye learned of what the purpose of those legs were as she watched the dragon dig into the earth. Her mouth dropped open in awe before she squirmed curling up and covering her body with her wings so the rubble wouldn't fall onto her as the serpent one dug.
Once she felt the dragon stopped digging she uncoiled herself, spreading her wings a bit before folding them back. She looked around seeing nothing but pure darkness and curled up her tail tightly around her small body.

Once it became dark, the night fury arose like clock-work. He got to his feet and remembered the days events. He shook his head and padded around in a small circle, his long tail trailing behind him. It was then that Eros shot into the sky, his dark form barely seeable in the darkness of the night. His fluorescent yellowy-green eyes shone brightly as he scoured the lands below him for possible prey. He soon picked out where the horse dragon Violet was, the giant earth dragon, and the water dragon. Then some others that weren't known to him. His eyes picked up the heat signatures of small rodent like creatures on the ground.

The night fury seemed to drop from the sky and swooped right down to the ground easily picking them up in his broad mouth before taking off once more. He repeated this several times, catching what seemed to be most of his fill.

The night fury continued to sweep unknown through-out the night. He continued to scrap up small rodents off the ground as his belly remained unfilled. His long dark wings carried him relentlessly through the night sky as he gracefully swept through the gentle breeze in search of his next kill.

A rhythmic 'thwomp'-ing sound filled his sensitive ears at a quickened pace. It was a sound that the young dragon had not come across before, though it seemed to have a deathly beat to the sound. In the dark of the night, however he continued to fly around, not taking any notice of the sound. A flying machine soon revealed itself to Eros, so quickly that he had to swoop down and out of the way before they collided. The flying object was soon revealed to be a helicopter, not that Eros knew that. The flying machine pursued the young dragon following him through the sky, though not able to see him, it picked up the heat signatures from his body.

Eros didn't know what to do, so he kept flying as fast he could to get away from the creature. Small sparks soon lit up the sky and the sound of bullets whizzing past his ears, emitted him to fear. After continuing to fly away out of shock with the machine on his tail for a few more seconds he wondered what to do. An idea soon came to the young night fury. It felt necessary to do what he was about to.

With a slight adjustment of his tail position Eros was soon sent upwards into the sky, only to loop back over the helicopter so that he was now behind it. Though that did not stop the firing of the guns upon him. Taking a deep breath Eros shot a blue lightening bolt from his broad jaws straight at the helicopter, and proved a direct hit. He could tell that it had taken some damage and some of its people from the inside fell out. With his eyes narrowed Eros blasted them again with another blue lightening bolt. This one causing more damage that the last. Both blue bolts seeming like the sky had been struck by lightening, easily lighting it up in the darkness. The helicopter whirled around and was soon sent crashing to the ground. It crashed only a few hundred meters from where the other dragons where resting peacefully. Eros gently glided to the ground to study the machine a bit more closely.

Upon reaching the wreckage, Eros saw the damage caused and that the human occupants were all dead. He wandered around the burning shrapnel still wondering what on earth he had just taken down.

Salix's sleep was split apart at the Elemental's display, making him grunt and bury head underneath him. As he started to drift off again a familiar sound came to his ears. Grumbling to himself he squeezed his eyes shut and wrapped his wings around his body, tonight of all nights.

His heart skipped a beat as he both heard and felt a terrible crash into the ground. Immediately Salix pulled his head from beneath himself and shot to his feet. His eyes scanned through the dark; first thinking it was the dragon that had fallen. Not seeing anything dragon-esque, he continued his search standing up on his hind legs. Just managing to spot a depression in the sea of trees, he snarled, that wasn't there before! Dropping himself down he started after the scene hastily.

Salix growled harshly at what and who he saw. His green eyes seethed with anger as he looked from the wreckage to the small Night Fury. "W-what have you done?!" He inspected what remained of the helicopter, wincing at what he saw, sighing with frustration and fatigue. He sat down and hunched his shoulders.

Spotting the confusion on the young dragon's face he, he watched it wander around the heap of burning metal,"it is a helicopter. They use them to get around like we can; in the air. And they don't take kindly to anyone or anything bringing them down, which is what you've just done. I have to praise you for your guts to take it down, but also scold you for doing so. Even so much as placing a scale on one of these things and the humans are all over us like wild ivy. It doesn't take long for them to find out when one has gone missing; and even less time for them to send another out in search for it and who destroyed it. It's just put every dragon in this area in danger. Unless they were told the description of the culprit, they don't care for who actually did it, preferring to make an example by killing the first dragon they see; as a deterrent."

Standing up with a dissatisfied look, he shook himself and sent a gust of wind over the heap using his wings. Swaying his tail behind him he reached in as far as he could, dragging out the humans that slumped over the console and seats. Taking each one he laid them down just to side of the wreckage; the least a dragon could do after killing them. Turning his attention to the young dragon he scowled slightly, "feel proud of your feat later. It is best that we leave, now. And warn the others about this. It won't be long before they come looking for this and us..."

Skye recoils her small body back until she is curled up tightly, her wings folded over her like a protective veil. Her ears shot up to the terrible noise that shook the earth.
Curiosity took the better of her and she waddled over to her mother and gently nuzzled her giant snout before whispering, "Don't worry mommy, I won't be long. I'll still protect you." Her still not knowing that her mother was never to return into this world ever again, just thinking that the serpentine simply ment she will sleep for months, just like they did when they lived in their mountain.
Summoning all her courage, Skye began wandering to where the thunderous sound came from. As she did so, she remembered noticing the luminous blue flames that lit the night sky only moment ago.
She made her way into the safety of a thicket nearby. Her eyes fell onto the forms of the Night Fury from earlier and the Earth Dragon. She payed no attention to them but gazed in awe to the hunk of metal behind them. The mixed scents of burnt metals, gases and human blood flooded into her nostrils before she coughed quietly, not wanting to reveal herself to the others as she stood within the shadows of the thicket.

"W-what have you done?!"

The words rang through the young night fury's ears as he feared he had destroyed something that was good. But is was shooting at him, it was either death to the machine or himself. 'I'm to young to die' he thought.

Eros watched as the earth dragon came to his side and spoke about the evil machine he had taken down, he called it a helicopter. He had praised him and scolded him, but wasn't ridding the world of two legs a good thing? All they wanted to do was to destroy the dragons anyways. So why not dispose of them? Eros shuddered at the next few things that the earth dragon filled his head with, and gave a nod to its next lot of words, saying that they better clear off before its too late.

Eros took off after the earth dragon attempting to keep up with its steady stride, and a quickened pace of his own. Eros was tired, and it was almost morning, he would have to sleep again soon, hopefully those two-legged creatures wouldn't find him anytime soon. As he followed the much larger dragon, Eros wondered why it laid the two-legs bodies out across the ground.

"Why did you do that with their bodies?" the young night fury managed to get up the courage to ask the earth dragon such a question. He haltered his gait and looked onto the dragon awaiting an answer.

Salix took a glance back at the wreckage before heading off and grumbling to himself as he walked on. His eyes wandered over the young dragon as he attempted to keep up with the pace and spotted a small look of confusion on his face. Carrying on his way his mind jolted as he was addressed. Not stopping as the young dragon had, he carried on walking while talking, "well, as destructive as they are. They could have families where they live. I'm sure if anything happened to you, you wouldn't want to be left to just burn away, you would want to be taken back home. Everyone deserves respect, whether you think they do or not. Even more so when it comes to death. As different as we are in living, we are all equal in death and should be treated as such. And in case you're wondering why we don't just kill them all and be done with it, just because they are of different a species, it doesn't make their existence any less important or necessary to the world, does it?"

His voice turned to a whisper as a flash of shame came across his face thinking back to when things had started to turn bad "our kind has to take just as much blame in this battle for dominance..."

Salix's eyes widened slightly in shock as something landed on, causing him to stop momentarily and feel for what it was. Once figuring out who it was he carried on; until his ears picked up on a light panting from behind. He swiftly turn his head to look, rolling his eyes at what he saw. Using his tail to pick up the red dragon, he placed her on his back, guardian turn babysitter now I see...

"..battle for dominance.."
Skye's ears swerved forward, just catching what he said as he picked her, placing her with the Pegasus from earlier. Noticing her concern expression upon her features as well, Skye curiosity intensified. Determined to find out what the Earth Dragon meant about the "battle for dominance" she began crawling up the dragon's back to try and reach his head.
Even though he was on the move, she had no difficulty climbing up his back to his neck. As she slowly began making her way up his neck, she made sure not to misplace her footing to not slip and fall over as she crawled with the help of his frills. Once she made it onto his head she settled herself in between his horns. She took a short glance back down, the swaying motion as he moved made her a bit dizzy, nearly causing her to fall over but didn't.
She sat down on top of his head and looked down at him, looking into his big emerald colored eyes.
She blinked thinking he looked awkward from an upside down view but didn't care as she squeaked out her prolonging question. "How long has the battle for dominance been going on?"

Salix winced as he was climbed over and had his green frills used as grips. He tried his best to steady his head as the hatchling sat on top. Rather a strange feeling being restricted in movement; especially when walking. His eyes glanced up for a few seconds as she asked her question, before dropping them back to looking where he was going, "long enough... A little before I was born. But it doesn't concern you at the moment. As long as you don't get involved and keep yourselves away from them, you all should be fine," not having much faith in his own words he only hoped it didn't matter too much; as long as they got away from this place soon. He glanced down the young black dragon beside him and raised a brow, "that includes not taking down their helicopters and killing the people inside."

Sighing to himself he stopped short of his cave and where the water dragon still perched and sat himself down. He glanced back to Violet with a raised brow and a slight smirk, "oh? I thought I was a dragon murderer and was the most feared dragon around? Surely such a monstrosity need not have a name, other than those that have been bestowed upon him by such story tellers? And for the record, that dragon that did die, wasn't because of me! It's not my fault if he ate something he shouldn't have earlier and just fell while arguing with me..." He finished with a slight grunt and turned his attention to the water dragon, waiting for her to say something.

Salix looked down to Violet and held back a small sigh, "but I bet you believed them though..." Hunching his shoulders slightly he glanced to the female before actually answering her question, "Salix. My name is Salix." Even though day was hitting the forest, he knew that everyone was going to need at least a little rest, before they had to move on. He set himself down in his place and kept watchful ears and eyes on the sky and surroundings, just in case, "seeing as we were all disturbed during the night, you all need to get some rest before we carry on. Otherwise you'll slow down, and I'm not carrying anyone; you've got legs and wings and you will most certainly use your own and not mine."

Salix groaned and rolled his eyes, "my forest, my rules. But if you intend on living a few more years, then yes, yes you do. You three as well," he flicked between the two remaining young dragons and the raised dirt trail that had followed them. Wouldn't showing yourself be much easier than eavesdropping...? Shrugging to himself he rested his head but kept his attention on full and watching the three young dragons before him, since when did it come to this?.
